A MORNING OUTSIDE THE WINDOW

Early in the
morning
I draw open
the curtains
The morning
in the Ward Park
Is enjoying
the warm winter sun
Like an
audience I lie watching
Out of the
window that faces east
And
appreciate quietly
Those
motionless branches and leaves
In some
distant green trees
Jumping up
and down are a dozen of rainbow kiddoes
One moment a
rainless rainbow is formed
Another
moment they display like florid patterns on a green umbrella
Slowly they
fall scattering like colourful petals
Suddenly
they rise vigorously like fireworks
Watching
with contentedness while listening with focus
I find the
birds in sunlight are twittering happily
As if
singing an Ode to Joy
In the clear
blue sky
A huge
creature roars by
It is not a
giant eagle
But a metal
‘kangaroo’ that can march in cloud
Soon a flock
of doves land on the windowsill
And through
the border of a glass wall
We stare at
one another
Closely with
curiosity
Then they
glide gloriously in couples
Circling in
the view of this 4-square-metre sized screen
Another
‘kangaroo’ dashes by
Flocks of
colourful birds cheer and dance
In such
bright golden sunlight
Where to
find a symphony sweeter than this
In the
bird’s heaven beyond this 4-square-metre view
Let my soul
chant
Together
with such delight
In the broad
sky beyond this crystal wall
Let my life
take off
As they do
